The Archer’s Quiver

If you are playing a ranger or archer at your next LARP game, the quiver is an essential archery accessory you don’t want to forget! A skilled ranger who can hit a distant target is still only as good as their weapon... and the ability to carry and reach their arrows. To complete your costume, Epic Armoury's Quiver collection includes a wide selection of handcrafted bow quivers in various styles and designs. Whether you desire a rugged and barbaric aesthetic, or the curved and elegant style of an elf, we have many options to fit your archery needs.

Construction of our Quivers

Each quiver is designed to be practical, durable, and beautifully handcrafted by qualified professionals. They are predominantly made from natural leather or canvas, with highly adjustable leather straps made from top-grain leather. The fittings and buckles are made of brass-plated mild steel. The edges are stitched together using strong thread to strengthen and increase the lifetime of our quivers, and the colours are dyed into the material instead of painted on top, reducing the likelihood of rub-off staining. Each quiver is designed to hold at least six LARP safe arrows, and can be switched between left- and right-handed archers. Some of our designs can also be switched from the back to the belt. Remember to play responsibly and never aim arrows at your fellow players' head, keeping safety in mind in combination with our own archery equipment safety measures.

Maintenance of our Leather Bow Quivers

Made from real leather, expect an Epic Armoury quiver to last you a long time with proper leather care. Natural leather products are very durable, but require regular maintenance with leather care products to stay flexible and to increase its life-time. Make sure your leather products are kept dry when stored. Let wet leather dry naturally before treating. If frequently wet and dry, increase frequency of maintenance.

The History of the Quiver

Historically, quivers could be attached in various positions, including: the back, the belt, the ground, or the archer’s limbs. Additionally, some archers carried their arrows in a specialized bag--especially longbowmen--due to the arrow’s length. Quivers were traditionally made of leather, wood, furs, and other natural materials.

An archer would be expected to carry between 24-60 arrows in their quiver, depending on the culture and time period. English longbowmen in the early 1400s carried two quivers filled with 48 arrows, and would carry an additional 12-24 arrows in their belt. With at least 60 arrows carried into battle, they could shoot arrows for about 5 minutes before needing to be resupplied. At the time archers were expected to shoot 12-20 arrows/per minute!
